Make Connections

There are many ways to connect with undergraduate research opportunities on campus.

Work

Keep tabs on the PAWS home page for opportunity announcements, and watch both CareerLink and USask Careers (check under staff and faculty) for research-related job postings, such as internships, assistantships and more.

Communicate

Reach out to a faculty member in your area of interest about their current research work and any opportunities or suggestions they might have for you to get involved.

Lead

Become a mentor for the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) program with Student Learning Services (SLS). Lead Undergradute Research Workshops as a peer facilitator. The workshop series aims to have students helping students in research skill development and capacity.

Be SURE

Join the Student Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) co-curricular program. This program offers co-curricular credit on your transcript when you complete 10 hours of SURE-led or SURE-adjacent training in communication, research technical, safety and ethics management, and professional/entrepreneurial development.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to gain experience, learn outside of the classroom and meet new people. Watch for challenges, competitions, student clubs, and other opportunities across social media, and jump in when you see something great!

Edit

USURJ  (University of Saskatchewan Undergraduate Research Journal) offers interested students the opportunity to join its editorial board and experience the inner workings of an academic journal. Editors volunteer an average of 2-4 hours per week and recruitment usually takes place in the spring.

Participate

The Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research (CHASR) is an interdisciplinary research lab with employment and research opportunities. For more information on how students can get involved, visit the CHASR student opportunities page.

You can also learn about research projects from a different perspective by signing up as a participant. Log-in to PAWS to find research studies looking for participants.

Coach

Become a research coach with the USask First Year Research Experience program.
