Workshop Description:

This online workshop builds on the concepts introduced in the Video Storytelling (Pre-Production and Production) workshop from July and focuses on transforming raw footage into a compelling story. Participants will learn the fundamentals of video editing, from organizing clips and building a narrative to adding music, text, and visual elements that enhance audience engagement.

Using free and accessible editing tools, students will explore the complete post-production process and learn how to create polished short-form videos that effectively communicate their research, fieldwork, or summer experiences.

Goals:

  • Understand the key stages of the post-production process.
  • Learn how to organize, select, and sequence footage to tell a clear story.
  • Develop basic editing skills
  • Explore techniques for incorporating music, captions, text, and transitions effectively.
  • Gain confidence in creating engaging shortform videos.
