This in-person workshop is designed for undergraduate researchers participating in the 2026 Storytelling Competition. Participants will learn how to use their smartphones to capture compelling video content that effectively communicates their research experiences. The session will cover the fundamentals of planning, filming, and storytelling, including shot selection, lighting, audio and interview techniques. Through practical examples and hands-on demonstrations, students will gain the skills and confidence to create engaging video content using the equipment they already have. Participants will also learn how to identify and collect meaningful footage throughout their summer projects, helping them build a strong collection of content for future storytelling projects and a follow-up workshop focused on post-production.

Workshop Description
