Research, scholarly, and artistic works that fall under the Energy and Mineral Resources for a Sustainable Future
signature area include: powering renewable energy transitions in rural and remote regions to create new economic development opportunities and reconcile Indigenous relations; driving innovation in sustainable critical minerals production; and advancing nuclear science and technology to reduce carbon emission and revolutionize medical treatments with smarter nuclear imaging methods.

Award details:
The student conference travel awards will be used to support students presenting (poster or oral presentations) at conferences between May 1, 2023 and August 31, 2023. Funds can be used to cover registration fees, transportation costs, and meals. The value of each award will be up to $1,000 and will be provided after receipts have been submitted and confirmed to comply with University policies.


Application details:
A complete application will include the following:
1. Name of the student and NSID
2. Name of the Supervisor and affiliated Department, Unit, School and/or College
3. Title of the presentation
4. Title, location, and dates of the conference
5. Abstract for the presentation (maximum of 250 words)
6. A justification of why the subject of the presentation aligns with the Energy and Mineral Resources for a Sustainable Future
signature area (maximum 250 words)
7. Confirmation that the presentation has been accepted by the conference organizers must also be provided. (This can be
provided after the application due date.)
8. A copy of the presentation that can be posted to the signature area website. (This can be provided after the conference has
taken place.)

Applications are to be sent to both signature area co-leads (Dr. Andrew Grosvenor (andrew.grosvenor@usask.ca) and Dr. Greg Poelzer (greg.poelzer@usask.ca)) and must be received by 4 p.m. on March 1, 2023. Applications will be assessed by the signature area co-leads and steering committee. Awardees will be contacted by April 3, 2023.
