In the workshop, White will explain the mission of The Conversation Canada, offer some background on how it helps academics with knowledge mobilization and give some tips on how to pitch a really great story idea. This is an interactive workshop, so bring potential story ideas related to your research to discuss.

Sharing your research story helps build your profile as a researcher, improves your chances of getting funding, and grows the research reputation of the University of Saskatchewan.

This exclusive session organized by USask Research Profile and Impact is open to faculty, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows from USask.

Background: The Conversation Canada academic newswire is proving to be an influential way for researchers to tell their stories and share their knowledge with a wider, non-academic audience.

USask is a founding member of this new national online newswire which enables researchers to write short articles in their areas of expertise, working with experienced journalists as editors. USask faculty, PhD students, and post-doctoral fellows have written a total of 132 articles that have been read more than 2.6 million times. (Master’s students can write articles co-authored by their supervisors).

Based out of Toronto, White is the former Editor-in-Chief of The Canadian Press and former Vice-President, Content Strategy and Business Development at Postmedia Network.
