Biography

Le Li, Senior International Specialist holds a Master’s degree in Education with over 15 years’ experience working in the International Office at the University of Saskatchewan (USask). Le facilitates global collaborations to increase opportunities for faculty, students, and staff to access overseas academic and research activities, international research and development funding and networks. She provides leadership for the research portfolio, leads major international research and development programs, oversees strategic multidisciplinary partnership initiatives, and engages external agencies and collaborating institutions worldwide to achieve and enhance institutional priorities.

Her expertise lies in internationalization strategy building as well as program and protocol development to accelerate USask’s global reach while ensuring compliance with government/granting agency policies and procedures. Her passion encompasses multilateral and multidisciplinary project conceptualization and team building with risk mitigation planning related to geopolitical implications, cultural nuances, liability, indemnity, insurance, legal and financial considerations, intellectual property protection, governance structure, and conflict of interest management, along with promoting best practices sharing across units within the university and with peer institutions.

Le has been recognized for her work in internationalization by the Government of Saskatchewan and USask. In November 2021, she received an award for Outstanding Leadership and Support for Saskatchewan International Education from the Minister of Advanced Education, Government of Saskatchewan. Le was also awarded the University of Saskatchewan International Engagement Service Award for Staff. Currently she serves on the Global Collaborate Community Working Group of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and has published articles “What Keeps You Up at Night – NIH Updated Subaward/Consortium Policy NOT-OD-23-133”, “Research Management and Administration (RMA) in the midst of a global crisis”, and “Reflection on COVID-19 and its impact on research administration and international collaboration” with co-authors from Trinity College Dublin and the University of Melbourne. Aside from work, Le enjoys being a volunteer for schools and the piano parents association.
